At the market opening on Monday at the beginning of this week, I witnessed a gap in the USDJPY pair and several other pains that had elements of the JPY currency including EURJPY and CHFJPY. The gap will be obvious from low timeframes such as M5 or M15. This gap occurs because Saturday and Sunday are holidays when large transaction volumes occur and the data feed has not been recorded, only after the market opens does a gap occur. Traders may be able to take advantage of gap opportunities, which will often recover and close the gap spaces, although sometimes this is not the case.
