When I was choosing my first account I got overwhelmed comparing Standard, ECN, PRO, and Cent. Sharing what made me land on Cent in case it helps someone else deciding right now.
Standard needs the same $8 minimum but trades in full USD, with leverage up to 1:2000. That felt like a lot of exposure for someone brand new like me. ECN needed a $50 deposit plus a $4 commission per round turn, which felt unnecessary while I was still learning basics. PRO wanted a $500 minimum deposit, clearly built for experienced traders chasing tight spreads from 0.6 pips.
Cent hit the sweet spot. Only $8 to start, spreads from 1.2 pips just like Standard, zero commission, and leverage up to 1:1000 that scales down responsibly as your balance grows. Because the balance is shown in USC rather than USD, the numbers feel bigger which somehow made me less scared to actually place trades and learn from my mistakes.
I also liked that negative balance protection is included as standard, and margin call sits at 60 percent with stop out at 30 percent, so the risk framework is clearly defined from day one. Execution has felt fast and reliable on both MT4 and MT5.
My plan now is to keep building consistency here for a while longer before graduating to Standard. If you are stuck comparing account types like I was, Cent is a genuinely solid place to begin.
