Facebook has banned all Russian state media from advertising on its platform, according to a company official.
Nathaniel Gleicher, head of security policy at Facebook, said that Russian state media is now prohibited from running advertisements or monetizing content on its platform, adding that the new restrictions apply around the world.
In a tweet, Gleicher said that Facebook would continue to apply labels to Russian state media.
"We are now prohibiting Russian state media from running ads or monetizing on our platform anywhere in the world. We also continue to apply labels to additional Russian state media. These changes have already begun rolling out and will continue into the weekend," Gleicher said.
On the other hand, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Saturday that Kyiv had managed to repel Russian attacks overnight and his army was still in control of the capital.
Street fighting took place with Russian forces closing in on the city. Missile strikes also continue in Kyiv with one high-rise apartment block taking damage.
Elsewhere, Three children killed as death toll rises 198, Ukraine's health minister says.
Almost 200 Ukrainians have died since Russia launched it's attack earlier this week, the country's health minister said in a Facebook post Saturday.
Oleh Liashko said three children were among the 198 dead. He added that 1,115 had been wounded, 33 of whom were children.
Liashko also said that Ukraine's hospitals were still operational and providing medical care.
