Noticing more forex brokers here quietly rolling out crypto trading desks alongside their FX pairs this year. Makes sense — client demand for digital assets isn't slowing, and brokers don't want traders leaving the platform just to trade BTC or ETH elsewhere.
A few things brokers are weighing before adding this:
A few things brokers are weighing before adding this:
- White-label vs building in-house — white-label gets you to market in weeks instead of months, but you inherit the vendor's liquidity and security architecture
- Liquidity aggregation — same principle as FX liquidity pools, just sourced from crypto market makers instead of banks
- Regulatory overlap — most jurisdictions now treat crypto trading desks as a separate license layer even if you're already MSB/FX regulated
- Wallet custody — this is the part pure-FX brokers underestimate; custodial wallet security isn't optional, it's the whole business
For brokers actually scoping this out, it's worth looking at how a dedicated crypto exchange development service structures the white-label stack — liquidity, custody, and compliance modules are usually bundled differently than people expect.
Anyone here already running a crypto desk alongside FX? Curious how the client uptake has been versus expectations.
