Saw this debated in another thread so figured I would break it down properly since the two get confused a lot.
ECN Account: raw spreads, EUR/USD from 0 to 1 pip, Gold from 0.7 to 0.9 pips, but you pay $4 commission per round turn ($0.04 per 0.01 lot). You also get a small rebate, $3 combined on EUR/USD and Gold. Leverage up to 1:2000, min deposit $50, 42 instruments. This is the setup for algo traders and high frequency strategies where every fraction of a pip matters and you want direct market pricing.
PRO Account: no commission at all, but spreads are a bit wider, from 0.6 pips. Same 1:2000 leverage, same 42 instruments, but the entry cost is higher, $500 minimum globally, or $200 if you are trading from India.
So which saves more depends on your volume and style. High frequency or algo traders usually come out ahead on ECN since the raw spread plus flat commission beats a marked up spread at scale.
